How to join a volunteering initiative on Nubadir, step by step
From installing the app to verified hours on your profile: every step as the app actually works, including what happens when an initiative is full or a check-in is not accepted.
1. Create your account
Install the Nubadir app, tap Get started and enter your Kuwaiti mobile number (+965). We text you a 6-digit code, and an iPhone fills it in from Messages. Then add your name, choose a password of at least 8 characters (an iPhone can suggest a strong one and save it for you), and pick the app language.
After that you sign in with your number and password, and "Send me a code instead" is always one tap away.
2. Pick an initiative
The app’s home screen lists upcoming initiatives, each with the organisation running it, its date and time, its place on the map and the seats left. Filter by location or by what is open to join, and read the full details before you decide.
Some initiatives are invitation-only; they open from the invite link the organiser shares with you.
3. Join, or wait on the waitlist
Tap Join event on the initiative. If every seat is taken the button reads Join waitlist; when a seat frees up you are moved into it automatically, in order, and we text you.
You can leave any time before you check in, and your seat goes to the first person waiting.
4. Check in on the day
Check-in opens 30 minutes before the start, or as soon as the organiser starts the initiative, and stays open until 30 minutes after the end.
You need to be there: inside the area the organiser set around the site, with up to 50 metres allowed for GPS accuracy. Then take a selfie with the app’s own camera; photos from your library and photos of a screen are not accepted.
5. The organiser verifies your attendance
One of the initiative’s organisers reviews your check-in, and a person always makes that decision. The reviewer sees how far you were from the site, not your exact location, and your selfie stays private and is never posted. Details are in the privacy notice.
When it is verified you get a text, and the initiative’s hours are added to your profile with your badges: a quiet record of what you have contributed.
If a check-in is not accepted
If the app says you are too far away, move closer to the site and try again. If check-in is not open yet, wait for it to open or contact the organiser. If your attendance is not verified, the app says so and shows what you can do next.
