Nubadir is built by Mahmoud AlBustan and Fahad AlHajeri

Two computer engineers from Kuwait. We started Nubadir because community work here is not short of people willing to help. It is short of a way for them to find each other. This page says who we are, what we are building, and why.

Co-founder — platform and infrastructure

Mahmoud AlBustan is from Kuwait City and studies Computer Engineering at the American University of Kuwait (AUK), specialising in artificial intelligence. What marks him out is that he finishes things: IslamTools, a privacy-first Islamic companion app built in Flutter and released on both iOS and Android; Codewords, a party game past thirty thousand downloads with AI running live inside the game engine; and Bioverse, a space-biology research engine that answers only from NASA datasets and six hundred peer-reviewed studies, built on retrieval-augmented generation so that it cannot invent an answer.

Fahad AlHajeri is from Kuwait City and studies Computer Engineering at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), graduating in May 2027. His work runs from embedded systems to interface design.

Common questions

What is Nubadir?: Nubadir is a Kuwaiti volunteering platform that helps people find community initiatives to take part in, and helps organisers create and run them. The name means “we take the initiative”.
Who founded Nubadir?: Nubadir was founded by Mahmoud AlBustan and Fahad AlHajeri, two computer engineers from Kuwait City. Mahmoud builds the platform and infrastructure; Fahad leads the mobile app.
Where is Nubadir based?: In Kuwait. It is built for community work in Kuwait first, and Arabic is its primary language.
Has the app launched?: No. Nubadir is still being built. The site only collects waitlist registrations, and joining does not reserve an event place or guarantee a launch date.

Why we built Nubadir

In Kuwait there are people fixing bridges, painting walls, restoring facilities and cleaning beaches, and organisers who have been bringing people together around that work for years. What is missing is not willingness. It is the means: knowing there is an initiative near you this week, understanding what is being asked of you, and turning up without having to be inside the right group chat.

So we are building Nubadir around discovery, participation and running events well, not around points and competition. Volunteering hours and a record of what you took part in stay quiet recognition on your profile. They are not a measure of anyone's worth or a reason to rank people against each other. Someone who helps once is as welcome as someone who helps every week.

Nubadir is still being built and has not launched yet. We would rather say that plainly than promise something we have not made.
